Where did that crocodile come from?
You probably haven't missed the crocodile. It's on the website, our books, and our tickets. What's the story?
When we published the first version of our book in 2010, Sales for Techies and Consultants We searched for a cover to match. It couldn't have a typical sales vibe, of course, because our book is aimed at people who naturally dislike sales.
Overly beautiful stock models enthusiastically high-fiving each other does not suit us and our target group.
Our planner at the time, Cornelie, is a good drawer, and we asked her to design a symbol that would suit our target audience. Cornelie was just entering her animal phase. Perhaps the wise owl? No, that suits the target audience, but not commercially.
After some wandering, we came across an animal that has existed for a long time, lying in wait underwater for its prey, which it then suddenly pounces on with sharp teeth. Now, that sounds a bit like a classic salesman, we thought.
And because it concerns our target group, it naturally had to be a nice crocodile who has other people's best interests at heart.
Our corporate identity features a lot of purple, and the interior of the book at the time was therefore printed in purple ink. However, this resulted in purple crocodiles in the interior, and we certainly didn't want that association. That's why there's a green crocodile on the outside.
One of the first customers we used that book with told us: Well, I hope you don't mind, but internally we call it The Crocodile Training.
We didn't mind, and so the crocodile began to play an increasingly important role.
